Meth is a Schedule II drug because it has high potential for abuse.
While much of the focus has been on heroin and opioids, meth “seemed” to disappear from the public’s radar in the past couple of years but many states in the Midwest and on the west coast will tell you that there are more meth-related deaths in their states than heroin.
The update to the piece explains how meth is making its comeback with a new process that makes it cheaper and easier to make by the Mexican drug cartels. This version of meth, like many other drugs found on the street these days, is much stronger and a purer version of what was seen in the past. It is even used along with heroin to lessen the effects.
